It's been a couple years since Watain has put out a full-length -- 2013's The Wild Hunt -- but the long wait is about to come to an end as the Swedish black metal outfit has announced a January release for not only a new album, but a brief European run to celebrate its unveiling.

The as yet untitled LP will be the sixth album from the Satanists and will hit shelves Jan. 4 via Century Media Records. A five show run of dates will begin in Stockholm, Sweden the following night (Jan. 5) and will wrap up Jan. 13 in Paris, France.

Watain hasn't played in the States since late 2015, but their shows are notoriously bloody good time. As reflected in the one sheet to announce the upcoming tour, quotes like, "A lot of people vomited throughout the evening from the stench of death and decay" give an idea of just how intense things get when the band takes the stage. A particularly insane show in Brooklyn three years ago caused so much chaos within the audience that TMZ even reported on it.

Led by frontman Erik Danielsson, Watain hit the black metal scene in 1998 and released their debut EP, The Essence of Black Purity, the following year. Since then, they've performed with the likes of Mayhem, Rotting Christ and In Solitude. The full list of January dates can be seen on the tour one sheet below.
