Volbeat and Anthrax were forced to cancel their gig Sunday night (May 3) in Calgary, Canada, after a building engineer determined the Calgary Stampede Corral’s infrastructure was not strong enough to support the bands' requirements to put on the show. Volbeat announced the cancellation on their Facebook page.

Here’s the statement from the group: “Today it was determined by the building engineer that the building infrastructure was not adequate to support the requirements of the show. In order to ensure the safety of the fans and band, it was decided by the building not to proceed with the show in this building at this time. Volbeat are disappointed that the show can not go on as scheduled and expect to return at a future date.” They went on to let fans know they’ll be issuing refunds for the tickets purchased starting this morning at 10AM.

While this is definitely a bummer for all those who planned to attend Sunday night, we probably don’t need to remind you about how dire the consequences are when things like this are not noticed. Back in 2012, one person died and three were injured at a Radiohead concert when their stage collapsed.

Volbeat, with support from Anthrax and Crobot, will play in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada tonight. Their tour kicked off in Denver on April 24 and they're set to play through June 2 when they rock New York City.

This isn't the first setback for Anthrax regarding these shows. Late last month, it was announced that Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante would be sitting out the first few weeks of this tour to deal with his Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. He plans to return to the group for their May 17 appearance at Rock on the Range.
