Thy Art Is Murder Release ‘They Will Know Another’ Lyric Video, Releasing Split With the Acacia Strain + Fit For an Autopsy

Forget “Are you ready for some football,” how about “Are you ready for some metal!?” Prepare for a lot of it because Thy Art Is Murder, the Acacia Strain and Fit For an Autopsy have teamed up to bring The Depression Sessions, a three-way split release arriving Aug. 12 through Nuclear Blast. An early taste has come from Thy Art Is Murder, who have released a lyric video for “They Will Know Another.”

The Thy Art Is Murder portion of the split features the last recordings with singer CJ McMahon. A cover of Rammstein’s “Du Hast” will round out the band’s two songs on the split. McMahon announced his departure from the group in late December last year due to financial strains from being in a band compounded with a desire to focus on starting a family. The song (heard below) details human plight around the world, with powerful images emphasizing the lyrics. The mood of the song is morose and expertly crafted with varying tempos and glooming, foreboding melodies.

The three bands entered Graphic Nature Audio in Belleville, New Jersey with Fit For an Autopsy's Will Putney at the helm of the sessions. Releasing a collective statement regarding The Depression Sessions, the artists stated, "After months of heavy touring, a cold New Jersey background set the tone for a dark, honest, and moody record. We gave some nods to the bands we grew up listening to and took some new risks in our own songs. More importantly, this record is a statement of community. We live in a very competitive and selfish world, and it this is proof it doesn't have to be like that. It's the friendships you make along the way, between the artists you share the stage with, that you'll take away with you long after the shows are over. Each band contributed a cover song for the split, with the Acacia Strain tracking Soundgarden’s all-time classic “Black Hole Sun” and Fit For an Autopsy’s rendition of “The Perfect Drug” by Nine Inch Nails.
