System of a Down, Iron Maiden + KISS to Headline Download Festival 2020
Just when we thought no other year would compare to 2019 for rock and metal, we can put our worries to rest. Part of the U.K.'s 2020 Download Festival lineup has just been announced, with System of a Down, Iron Maiden and KISS set to headline.
Other announced performers for the weekend at Donington Park are Korn, Deftones, The Offspring, Disturbed, Gojira, Alestorm, Black Veil Brides, Of Mice & Men and Daughtry. It will take place from June 12 to the 14.
"Next year we will play a number of countries and cities we have yet to visit on this incredible tour, so it is terrific to be able to accept the invitation to return to Download in 2020 and we will certainly go to town and add a few extra items to the show," enthuses Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson. "This will be our seventh time headlining at Donington Park. It’s home turf and we all really enjoy playing this Festival, the vibe from the crowd is always fantastic.”
KISS, who are currently in the midst of their final world tour, are looking forward to continuing their trek with Download as well. The performance will be their last in the U.K. "I’ve said it before, Download Festival audiences are the best. They are up for whatever is thrown at them. KISS is going to come fully prepared to rock their world in 2020 to say Thank You for always showing up for us," says Gene Simmons.
"From our appearances to many of my favorite bands, Castle Donington has always had a special place in my heart. We’re proud and excited to continue its legacy," adds System bassist Shavo Odadjian.
Download Festival has been one of the standout events in the rock and metal world for over a decade, and has always had outstanding lineups. Tickets for the festival go on sale Sept. 25, and the rest of the lineup is to be announced.
