Iron Maiden's Steve Harris will release his second album with his side group British Lion early next year. With two singles already out, the band has released another new track, this time dishing out the title track to The Burning.

Bursting with melody, which is at the heart of everything Harris does, "The Burning" engages a playful sense of forceful rock with a tug-of-war energy throughout the opening passages. The slight dips when the instrumentation suddenly eases back for just a moment serve the song incredibly well and it's evident there was quite a spark in the songwriting process as the band worked through and on-and-off writing and recording sessions over the last seven years.

Listen to "The Burning" below.

The album, which arrives on Jan. 17 and was tracked at Harris' own Barnyard Studios in the U.K., is the follow-up to 2012's British Lion record, which was released under the Steve Harris name, despite being a full band effort.

British Lion will also embark on their first-ever U.S. tour the day after The Burning comes out and a list of tour dates can be seen toward the bottom of the page.

While the legendary bassist places his focus on British Lion for now, he'll turn his attention back toward Maiden in the spring when the band hits the road for more "Legacy of the Beast" world tour dates. As for a new album from Iron Maiden, Harris told Billboard, "Bruce (Dickinson) the other day was saying, 'Do you fancy doing some more albums?' I'm up for it if everyone else is. I don't know quite when we'll dive in and do it, but it's in everybody's minds now."
