Soilwork Back Out of Tour With Symphony X, Nevermore
Bum out alert! Sweden's Soilwork have been forced to bow out of their upcoming tour with Symphony X, which was slated to go down this April and May. Why are Soilwork sitting this one out? Apparently guitarist Peter Wichers' has a chronic back injury. As anyone who has ever suffered from back problems can tell you, they're no joke, especially when your job is stand up and play a guitar!
Drummer Dirk Verbeuren has provided the following statement about the matter: "Due to recurring issues with a herniated disc in his lower back requiring a prolonged period of resting and healing, our guitarist Peter Wichers is forced to sit out this spring's North American tour with Symphony X and Nevermore. "
Rather than hire a fill-in -- and remember, prodigal son Wichers has only recently returned to the Soilwork fold -- the band is doing the noble thing. According to Verbeuren's statement, Soilwork have "decided to stick together as a band and out of respect for our fans, to cancel our participation in the tour. Our apologies to those of you who were hoping to see us. If all goes well, Peter should be healed and ready to hit the road in time for the summer festivals."
Well, at least there is some good news!
Soilwork's latest album is 'The Panic Broadcast,' out now.
