Slipknot’s ‘Psychosocial’ Gets Covered in 25 Different Musical Styles
Slipknot's 2008 song "Psychosocial" may chart the diffuse spread of social anxiety. But YouTube star Anthony Vincent of Ten Second Songs is using the tune to spread out in 25 different musical styles.
Never one to back away from a challenge, Vincent has previously stretched metal songs to their stylistic limits while working his musically diverse magic on tracks by Red Hot Chili Peppers, System of a Down, Halestorm and more. This time around, enough requests for Slipknot's All Hope Is Gone single apparently spurred the Internet musician to tackle the brutal cut from Corey Taylor and company. Interestingly enough, the YouTube music maker channelled an entirely different band when preparing to traverse "Psychosocial" in varying arrangements. While searching for inspiration in mounting the classic Slipknot track, the Ten Second Songs musician turned to the tunes of Linkin Park.
"Listening back to a bunch of Linkin Park songs to get inspiration for this fan favorite of Psychosocial, just reminds me of how many monumental songs they have," Vincent shared Monday (Oct. 14). "Crazy."
In the past, Vincent has given other tracks the Ghost treatment, added Korn style to pop songs, covered Christmas tunes in metal styles and performed ten otherwise unrelated ditties in the style of Metallica.
Slipknot's "Psychosocial" has previously been played by another talented fan on a miniature drum kit inside a refrigerator. The masked metal band themselves released sixth album We Are Not Your Kind this summer and will tour Europe and Japan next year. Get Slipknot tickets here.
