Sevendust Ink New Record Deal, Reveal Timeline for New Album
Sevendust are enjoying an uptick in their career, thanks to 2015's Kill the Flaw album and earning their first Grammy nomination for the song "Thank You." After promoting the album into 2016 and playing a 20th anniversary tour celebrating their debut disc earlier this year, guitarist John Connolly has checked in with an update on the band (that you can see above).
In the update, Connolly lays out the timeline for a new disc. “A little later this year we’ll be hopping in the studio. We’re kind of in demo mode right now. Probably start pre-production and recording somewhere in the neck of September / October and we’ll be hopping in the studio in November to record a new record,” says the guitarist, who later reveals that a spring 2018 release is expected with a tour to follow.
Connolly also reveals within the update that the band has recently signed a new record deal with Rise Records to issue their next disc, which means that everything is settled going into recording.
The guitarist and his Sevendust bandmate Vinnie Hornsby have also used a break in the schedule to focus on their other band, Projected. The group, which also features Alter Bridge drummer Scott Phillips and Tremonti guitarist Eric Friedmann, will be releasing their sophomore set, Ignite My Insanity, on July 21. Connolly also revealed that select CDs will come with a special card inside that serves as a bit of a "golden ticket" allowing fans access to receive an item in their "grab bag." These items include such things as lyric sheets, an autographed guitar and signed drum heads among others.
