Pelican’s ‘The Creeper’ to Air on ‘CSI: Miami’ Season Finale Tonight
Someone at CBS must be paying attention! Pelican's song 'The Creeper' from 'What We All Come to Need' will be used in tonight's season finale of 'CSI: Miami.' Those 'instrumetalists' Pelican go prime time? How the hell did that happen?
"We were approached by the network," guitarist Trevor de Brauw told Noisecreep. "We haven't seen the clips, just a plot synopsis, but as it involves investigating someone's death by drowning and the cover art of our most recent album has a body of water on it, we can't imagine a more fitting soundtrack."
De Brauw also said, "After years of [guitarist] Laurent [Schroeder-Lebec] confounding our expectations by namedropping network crime shows as a primary influence on his songwriting -- he often writes riffs while watching TV -- it makes total sense that our first invitation to prime time television would be in the service of the very TV genre that might been seen as having given birth to the sound. Hopefully next time we can get a jam into 'Law & Order: SVU' with a guest vocal spot by Ice-T."
''CSI: Miami' isn't the only television usage of Pelican music. On June 8, the Murder City Devils-hosted episode of 'Dinner With the Band' on IFC will also feature Pelican tunes.
In other Pelican news, the band will be returning to their hometown to play Chicago's annual Do Division Street Fest this June. The event takes place June 5 and 6 on Division Street in Downtown Chicago. The two-day event is expected to draw over 50,000 people. In fitting fashion, Pelican will play at dusk on June 5. More details are available. The band will play their hometown again following night at The Empty Bottle, headlining over local acts Medusa and Miracle Condition, which feature members of celebrated cult Chicago band US Maple.
