About the song:

"When we were writing 'The Rites of Love And Death,' it was originally meant to be electric. We were playing acoustics trying to nail down the vocal melody so we slowed it down a bunch. It sounded too right for us to try and mess with it, so we went with a nice warm hollow body for the lead and called it a day. It was really easy to write lyrically as the song has such a sad undertone to it and I was currently reading Shinchosha, a short story written by Yukio Mishima. It may come off a bit suicidal, but it's more about the nature of letting go of things due to the fascination and curiosity of what may happen next."
