Motorhead Online Slot Machine Arriving in September
Lemmy Kilmister's affinity for gambling has been well-documented outside of the Motorhead classic "Ace of Spades." Before the legend passed away, the video fruit machine he was regularly seen behind at the Rainbow Bar and Grill on the Sunset Strip was brought to his home during his final days. With the Jack Daniels and Coca-Cola drink he so often imbibed being nicknamed 'The Lemmy,' another fitting tribute has come by way of an online Motorhead slot machine.
The slot machine will complete Swedish-based digital casino entertainment company NetEnt's 'Rocks' trilogy the company began with a Guns N' Roses online slot machine in January and the forthcoming Jimi Hendrix one on April 21. The Motorhead version will arrive on Sept. 22 as Global Merchandising Services inked a a deal with NetEnt.
“The Motorhead brand is synonymous with high-octane music and has one of the last real iconic logos in music,” began Global Mechandising Services' senior licensing manager Gabbi Langdorf [via licensingsource.net]. She detailed more about the slot machine, adding, “'Ace of Spades,' which will be included as a soundtrack, couldn’t be a better theme song to this style of gaming and we hope not only fans, but the gaming public will appreciate the fantastic game mechanics that NetEnt are producing.”
“Motörhead will form a great addition to our NetEnt Rocks series of games," added NetEnt's Simon Hammon. "NetEnt will make a game the band will be proud of by creating a fast paced slot machine that is in tune with the energy and passion of the music.”
Following Kilmister's passing, his bandmates Mikkey Dee and Phil Campbell have remained active, joining groups onstage to perform Motorhead classics. Two days after the slot machine is released, Dee and Campbell will be joining British legends Saxon at the Lemmy 500 race in Sweden playing some Motorhead hits.
