Mike Mushok Hopes Staind Shows Will Open Other Doors for Band
While Staind have had a bit of a wavering career over the last decade, and frontman Aaron Lewis has been committed to his country albums, the band is back playing a few shows together this fall. Guitarist Mike Mushok isn't entirely sure what will happen afterward though, but he hopes the future has more in store for the band.
"For me, I think it's kind of like you dip your toe in the water and you see how it is," Mushok explained to Rock Talk With Mitch Lafon. "It's, like, 'Let's do these shows and let's see how it goes.' I think everybody's hoping that everything is good and we have a great time back out on stage playing these songs again, which I'm really looking forward to do. And hopefully there's more to come after that."
The guitarist, like Lewis, has his own thing going aside from Staind. In 2015, he joined forces with former Three Days Grace vocalist Adam Gontier to form Saint Asonia, and they are planning to release their sophomore album Flawed Design this fall.
However, Mushok admits that Staind are special to him.
"For me, Staind are what I've known for 25 years. I know that we had a break there, and I love what I do with Adam, and that's been great," he reflects. "But Staind was a band that Aaron and I started back in '94, and there's just a long history there. I'm excited to be able to get back and play those [songs] and explore again and see where it goes."
