While the death of Lemmy Kilmister was sudden, the news spread fast through the music community. Among the acts likely breaking the news to some of their fans were Killswitch Engage, who were playing in Providence at Lupo's as part of their Holidaze Rager dates.

As seen in the fan-shot video above, frontman Jesse Leach stops down the show, explaining, "One of the godfathers of heavy metal passed away a few moments ago." Upon revealing it was Lemmy, before he could continue what he wanted to say the fans erupted in "Lemmy" chants. In honor of the late rocker, Leach asked the crowd to join him in a toast, with the audience raising their drinks to the air in honor of Lemmy. After the nod, the band broke into their current single "Strength of the Mind."

Lemmy Kilmister passed on Monday (Dec. 28) at the age of 70. In the days since, many tributes to the Motorhead leader have graced the feeds of not only Loudwire but other sites. Rockers like Ozzy Osbourne, Lars Ulrich, Brian May, Steve Vai, Tom Morello and more have penned lengthy missives, while Dave Grohl went out and got some "Ace of Spades" ink in honor of Lemmy.

As for Killswitch Engage, the band is eyeing bigger things in 2016. Their Incarnate album is expected to arrive this coming spring.
