While no one knows for sure what's going on with Fall Out Boy, and whether the band is still active or sedentary, the members of the group are keeping busy. Frontman Patrick Stump has gone solo, Joseph Trohman and Andy Hurley have started a metal band with Scott Ian of Anthrax called the Damned Things, and Pete Wentz is busy being a dad and husband to Ashlee Simpson. Now Hurley, Fall out Boys's drummer, is upping his metal cred by filling in on drums for one of metalcore's earliest architects.

According to reports, Hurley will be taking over on drums for Earth Crisis drummer Dennis Merrick, on the band's spring tour with First Blood and Thick as Blood. He'll only be playing a portion of the bands upcoming The Wrath of Sanity Tour; there's no official word on why Merrick had to bail on the outing.

"As sad as we are that Dennis won't be able to do the entire tour, we are really excited to have Andy Hurley filling in on drums," the band wrote on its official Twitter page.

The tour gets underway in New York on April 22, and will make stops in Philadelphia, Toronto, Detroit, Cleveland and Chicago before winding down in Milwaukee on May 5.
