As Noisecreep has covered, the members of Dream Theater are thrilled to have been nominated for their first ever Grammy Award. Their song 'On the Backs of Angels' was included in the Best Hard Rock/Metal category. The Grammys Awards will air live on CBS this Sunday, Feb. 12.

Dream Theater is currently out on tour in Europe, but they collectively decided that the award show was too big a moment to miss. That's why, immediately after a show at London's Wembley Arena Friday night, Feb. 10, the band are jumping into a plane and heading to Los Angeles where they will be met by their wives (and even a few kids) to take part in the big celebration.

After the show, they hop a plane to pick up right where they left – rocking arenas throughout Europe.

As Dream Theater keyboard wizard Jordan Rudess told Noisecreep, regardless of what happens, the whirlwind adventure is something the band would not have missed for the world.

"We are so excited," he said from Glasgow. "The excitement we felt after first hearing the news of the nomination has never really worn off. We're just so proud of this new record and how we managed to evolve after parting with Mike, that regardless of whether we win or not, we're just going to have a fun time in the moment. None of knows that to expect, this is sort of new to us, but we're excited about who we might meet at the event. For Dream Theater this is really big deal and we just want to have a great time with each other and with our families and savor this honor of being nominated. And hey, if we win, that's just a bonus."

Rudess added that the European shows have been off the chart, in particular, a recent performance in Paris. "I have to say, of all the shows I have played in this band, that Paris gig the other night was off the chart. The crowd, the band – it just could not have been any better."
