DevilDriver are gearing up for the Aug. 27 release of 'Winter Kills,' their sixth album and first for Napalm after five albums with Roadrunner. Despite that administrative change, so to speak, DevilDriver haven't lost a step. In fact, they've leapt forward and come roaring out of the gates, stronger than ever, with the title track of the album, which you can listen to below.

While frontman Dez Fafara has embarked on the reunion tour circuit with his former band Coal Chamber, which is decidedly different than DevilDriver in both sound and image, his bark and his bite remain as dangerous and as damaging as ever. One listen to the extreme, blackened-to-a-crisp 'Winter Kills' is all you need for proof.

The dual guitar assault and the way that Fafara slaughters a microphone make 'Winter Kills' one of the best metal tracks we've heard all year. It earns two very enthusiastic horns up from us.

So go ahead, let Fafara and co. rip your head clean off your neck with 'Winter Kills.'
