Devildriver Frontman’s Wife Undergoes Successful Cancer Surgery
Anahstasia Fafara, the wife of DevilDriver frontman Dez Fafara, has emerged with a clean bill of health following successful cancer surgery. In October, DevilDriver canceled their participation in Megadeth's Megacruise 2019 following Anahstasia's diagnosis, now revealed as invasive malignant melanoma.
But a procedure that involved an extensive and "deep incision" on her leg returned "Clean Margins," Anahstasia recently shared on Instagram. In a subsequent post, she thanked her family and friends, including Lamb of God's Randy Blythe, for their support. See both messages toward the bottom of this page.
In a series of updates from last week (Nov. 29), Anahstasia writes that her treatment would have lasted "a much longer time period … if we went by the doctors that tried to schedule my appointments months out." However, she notes that her "pushy and loving bull of a husband was not going to let that Cancer just grow in me, so he took matters in his own hands and was extremely involved and had appointments and surgeries scheduled within weeks!! My surgery was successful."
She continues, "My husband took incredible care of me, cooked, cleaned, did all the [household] chores as I remained upstairs and unable to walk … and for this compassion and he already knows but I love you."
In the accompanying images, Anahstasia shared an outdoorsy portrait of herself as well as a group photo that shows Dez along with the couple's two sons, Kaleb and Simon, as well as Blythe.
Two months ago, Dez said, "Today my world is BLACK my wife and best friend @mrsfafara was told yesterday she has cancer. Please send positive vibes for our family while we go through this difficult time."
The Megacruise came under threat of overall cancellation when, in June, Megadeth's Dave Mustaine also received a cancer diagnosis. However, it was revealed soon after that the event remained afloat, and Mustaine offered a similarly positive update regarding his health last week.
