Not only does Slipknot singer Corey Taylor think the band could continue if he quit performing, he's even thought about what would happen when the remaining members found their next frontman.

That's what the musician divulged this week in a portion of an interview shared Wednesday (July 24). With just two weeks to go until the release of Slipknot's sixth studio effort, the veteran vocalist was seemingly asked if he could envision Slipknot's future without him. And while the performer warned that he's considered hanging up his music hat altogether, he also theorized the group's future isn't necessarily contingent upon him.

"I mean, it's crossed my mind as the years have gone on," Taylor told Metal Hammer. "It's gotten harder to do this. You think about when the end is. No one thought we'd be doing it 20 years later."

He continued, "If I just couldn't do it anymore, I'd just stop, but that doesn't mean that the band would stop. If I can't do it then someone might be able to take my place. … I've thought about it before: If the right person came around and the guys were into it then I'll just head off. We can't shortchange anyone."

Slipknot's new album We Are Not Your Kind comes out Aug. 9. It's so far spawned the singles "Solway Firth" and "Unsainted." This summer, you can catch the band live on the Knotfest Roadshow with Volbeat, Behemoth and Gojira, before they tour Australia with Metallica in the fall. Get ticketing info here.
