New Slipknot Album Will Have One of Their ‘Heaviest’ Songs Ever, Says Corey Taylor
Slipknot's "maggots" are likely salivating with every nugget of news concerning the band's forthcoming 2019 and singer Corey Taylor continued to whet their appetite with discussions about their upcoming music.
While speaking with Metal Hammer, Taylor revealed, "I think we've written our heaviest song -- one of them anyway -- on this new album." The vocalist also praised the type of music that's being created by he and his cohorts, which continues to broaden their musical palette.
“Some of this shit is just so hard and dirty fast. It’s fucking really good. It’s also us at our most ambitious, our most experimental, also us doing what we fucking do best which is basically when everybody thinks they’ve got us figured out, we just smack them in the face with everything we’ve got," says Taylor.
When asked about his description of the music, the singer stated, “The way we’ve been describing it is, ‘What if the guys who made Iowa matured? What if the kids who made Iowa grew up?’ That’s kind of the way we’re looking at it because some of this shit is so heavy – but there’s melody, there’s really cool melancholic melody going on."
The vocalist recently hinted that should things fall into place scheduling-wise, the band would likely release their next studio album in the summer of 2019, coinciding with a major world tour.
