San Diego deathgrinders Cattle Decapitation have themselves a new bassist, the band's third since forming in1996. They've enlisted Derek Engemann, formerly of Unmerciful, to join the fold. He replaces Rahsaan Davis and will "handle all upcoming touring duties," according to a statement from the group.

The band jammed with their new bassist Engemann "all weekend," and they're "more than confident in his abilities and can't wait to hit the road with him! Prepare for annihilation!" Cattle Decapitation will be hitting the road with Gaza for three dates in late April before heading out with Job for a Cowboy, Revocation and Whitechapel starting April 21 in Newport, Ky.

Cattle Decapitation will also be releasing a collection of rarities, spanning the band's entire career. No word on when the disc, which will be called 'Medium Rarities,' will be in stores, as the band is currently working on compiling material for the LP. The set will include "never before heard songs, hard to find/out of print tracks, live material, cover tunes and ultra rare pre-'Human Jerky' tracks never before heard by fans of the band."

In related news, Cattle Decapitation frontman Travis Ryan has revealed his participation in a new grind core supergroup called Murder Construct. The group features five members, including Impaled's Leon Del Muerte, Jesu's Danny Walker, Bad Acid Trip's Caleb Schneider and Watch Me Burn's Kevin Bernier. Their sound is described as "Napalm Death and Repulsion with an experimental edge."
