Where there's metal, there's blood. Bloodstock Open Air, that is – held annually at Catton Hall in Derbyshire, England. This year, the festival runs August 14-16.

Bands like Saxon and Carcass will mix with the likes of Cradle of Filth, WOLF, Girlschool and Snakebite. Bloodstock Open Air may also be on the only place on earth where you can catch a live set by Europe and Amon Amarth in the same day.

After pounding your body in the pit and drinking with friends you can either retire to the campground ... or karaoke. Yes, DJs host nightly metal karaoke. After all, isn't it more fun to watch your best friend destroy 'Holy Diver' than it is to sleep on the ground?

Bloodstock works hard to bring recognition to unsigned bands. Promoters hold a contest for fans to choose the best unsigned talent the metal world has to offer. Fans vote online in advance of the festival and the winning bands get to play the Bloodstock Unsigned stage for thousands of die hard metallers. The band with the most votes overall even gets to jam on the main stage!

Festival ticket prices vary by day and level selected. Like most festivals, camping is available. For those who don't really like to rough it, packages are available where your tent and camping area are already set up before you arrive.
