While it might be difficult to classify Asking Alexandria as any particular type of band, one thing is for sure: guitarist Ben Bruce understands his scene – and he doesn't like it.

"I hate our scene. Not the fans, but the bands -- they are so f--king fickle," Bruce tells Noisecreep. "They are caught up in a stupid image and doing what they think they need to do to get bigger. I think that is f--king boring."

One thing is for certain, no one can accuse Bruce of not speaking his mind. Asking Alexandria is currently on the Warped Tour, an annual festival of new punk bands. While Asking Alexandria isn't solely punk or metalcore or even techno -- they understand where the media lumps them and they don't want to get lost in that shuffle.

"In general, everyone is trying to be goody-goody now. Talk a bunch of bullshit in interviews, trying to make themselves look like nice people," Bruce continues, his disgust growing. "So many Christian bands [say] 'We do this for God.' You didn't do it for God, shut the f-ck up pu--ies! Are you kidding? It's fine if you believe in God. I don't care. Don't preach on stage!"

Scene haters or lovers aside, Asking Alexandra are doing their part to inject some new life into the metal world. Not long ago, the band released 'Reckless & Relentless,' a slight diversion from their earlier sound. Not exactly commercial but definitely more approachable, 'Reckless & Relentless' gives Asking Alexandria the shot at a bona fide radio hit. And yes, that change in sound was intentional.

"We don't want to go radio rock," Bruce explains, obviously aware of fans accusing his band of selling-out. "We want to write heavier songs that can get on radio so we can introduce people to heavy music again. Kind of like what Slipknot did. We're trying to be a radio rock band without being radio. We're heavy, still heavy."

Watch 'Closure' from Asking Alexandria

Still heavy and still innovative. For a relatively young band, Asking Alexandria have experienced a fast ascent to metal stardom. The band played this year's Rock on the Range festival, had their own headline run and performed on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' To keep momentum in their favor, the band will re-release 'Reckless & Relentless'- but with a twist.

"We're actually planning on re-releasing 'Reckless & Relentless' some point in the not-so-distant future. But as a DVD -- so you won't be able to just listen to it on a CD player. It will be a DVD and there's a video for every song that will kind of roll into one long movie for the album. We're trying to do new things that turn people's heads."

Right now, no official release date is planned for the revised DVD version of 'Reckless & Relentless.' The band recently released the video for 'Closure,' which will be included in the project.
