Young thrashers Alien Weaponry have revealed that bassist Ethan Trembath will not be participating in a slew of the band's upcoming tour dates while he completes his high school education. At the same time, they've revealed the musician's temporary replacement for the concerts.

The switch will affect the band's fall tour supporting Black Label Society and the Black Dahlia Murder starting this September, as well as a batch of subsequent headlining dates from the New Zealand rockers. Watch the outfit's video announcement from Thursday (August 8) down toward the bottom of the page.

"I don't like to disappoint our fans, but finishing school is really important to me," Trembath said in an accompanying press release. "It was a very hard decision, and I hope people will appreciate that."

For his part, substitute bassist Oblak seems like the perfect fit for a fill-in. In the same statement this week, he described the past festival encounter that led to him working with the metal group.

"I recognized Alien Weaponry's 'kiwi' accents in the artist camping ground at Metaldays last year, and from the first time we struck up a conversation, we all got on really well," Oblak offered. "I love their music and incredible energy on stage; and I’m stoked to be a part of it while Ethan is at school.”

Singer-guitarist Lewis de Jong added, “We're sad that Ethan can’t make this tour, but we understand and respect his wish to finish school. Bobby is an awesome bass player and performer, and he's also a great guy, so we hope our fans will welcome him and show him the love you all gave us on our last North American tour."

This spring, the act premiered their Metal Swim 2 contribution in "Ahi Ka." Last year, they dropped the warlike music video for "Kai Tangata." See the affected tour dates after the announcement.
