Update: According to New Zealand's Voxy, alcohol will be available for purchase inside the stadium per the concert's promoters and venue owner. The liquor ban will however be in effect for the surrounding areas outside of the stadium.

AC/DC fans in Auckland, New Zealand may get a "Whole Lotta Rosie" live, but there won't be a whole lotta rosie cheeks in the crowd as the Waitemata Local Board has voted to impose a temporary alcohol ban for the band's upcoming Dec. 15 show.

According to New Zealand's Stuff, the ban covers stadium alcohol consumption as well as a rather larger loop of area surrounding the nearby streets around the stadium and the Auckland Zoo. Anyone caught with or consuming alcohol during the band will be issued a $250 fine.

Though AC/DC typically draws an older crowd, that did not factor into the board's decision. Chairman Shale Chambers stated that police were concerned about alcohol consumption both before and after the concert.

Senior Sergeant Antony Wilson wrote a letter requesting a dry zone around the Wester Springs Stadium, adding that temporary liquor bans have "significantly assisted in curbing alcohol-related hard and offending in public areas." Chambers says there was enough evidence of potential alcohol-related harm surrounding the show to justify the ban, which was approved with a unanimous vote.

AC/DC's Rock or Bust world tour has arrived down under, with the band scheduled to play Australia and New Zealand in this early portion of November. As stated, the band will play in Auckland on Dec. 15 The show has been the cause of much speculation throughout the year as it's the closest performance to where estranged drummer Phil Rudd lives. The musician has been under house arrest for a good portion of the year after being charged with threatening to kill and for drug possession. The band has been utilizing another AC/DC alumnus, Chris Slade, behind the kit in Rudd's absence. See their remaining 2015 shows here.
