The record was issued a Platinum certification from the RIAA. That means the album, which featured the hit single 'Miss Murder,' has sold over one million units. The disc was also notable for generating the radio single 'Love Like Winter,' as well as such standout cuts as 'The Missing Frame' and 'Summer Shudder.' 'Decemberunderground' debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 upon its release.

The RIAA posted a photo of the snazzy commemorative plaque that the album was awarded. How would you like to have one of those hanging on your wall? In the days of declining record sales, for an album to nab a Platinum award is both impressive and hard-earned.

The Cali punk rockers were for a long period one of the most revered and commercially successful underground bands of their generation, but it was 2003's 'Sing the Sorrow' and 'Decemberunderground' that truly pushed AFI from scene successes to the top of the commercial punk rock food chain.

'Decemberunderground' marks the second Platinum album of the Davey Havok-led band's career. 'Sing the Sorrow,' which yielded the breakthrough, watershed smash 'Girl's Not Grey,' was their other Platinum recording. Congrats, boys!

AFI's most recent album, 'Crash Love,' came out in 2009. A new album is reportedly due this September.
