The fall is always a banner period for new music releases and October promises to be a great month for hard rock and metal lovers. But with so many great offerings en route, we're asking you, the music fans, to tell us which new release you are most wanting to pick up.

Soulfly, Smile Empty Soul, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Broken Hope and Fates Warning are among the acts wasting no time in getting the hard rock rolling in October, releasing their albums on the first of the month. The week of Oct. 8 may be the most competitive of the month sales-wise, as Alter Bridge, Korn and Cage the Elephant figure to debut high on the charts with their new discs.

The week of Oct. 15 is the most populated for hard rock and metal fans as Halestorm offers a covers EP, Flying Colors and Testament have live offerings, and original studio albums from Monster Magnet, Pearl Jam, Red Fang and Trivium will be vying for your almighty dollar.

On Oct. 22, Def Leppard and Lita Ford offer concert-based releases, while AFI and Motörhead have high profile discs due. And on Oct. 29, there's new records from Protest the Hero, Doyle, Leslie West and Toxic Holocaust as well as a Bad Religion Christmas album and the punk-filled Tony Sly tribute compilation.

With half a month left, now would be a good time to start saving up for the October new release blitz. But in the interim, here's your chance to let us know what is the most anticipated release of October 2013 by voting in the Readers Poll below. This poll will close on Sept. 30, 2013 and the winner will be deemed the New Release of the Month in a featured post on Noisecreep.
