The New Regime are back, with a 'Daydream' leading the way. Multi-instrumentalist IIan Rubin, best known as a drummer for Nine Inch Nails and Angels & Airwaves, is front and center with the first music video from The New Regime's 'Exhibit A' EP.

Shot in the enigmatic California location the Salton Sea, the video features Rubin in a surreal state of mind. Amidst its stark and arid terrain, Rubin sings out into the great unknown, as the clip frequently cuts to a dark-haired woman attempting to escape a seemingly tragic situation. "'Daydream' is a song that displays a lot of stylistic themes found on 'Exhibit A,'" said Rubin. "It started in its most simplistic form on an acoustic guitar with a lead vocal, but I wanted to transform it into an organic sounding, electronic hybrid. Lyrically a lot of the songs on 'Exhibit A' are meant to paint a picture for the listener rather than tell a story and I think that comes across well in 'Daydream.'"

As for what's next for Rubin, he's planning the 'Exhibit B' EP release later this year. Unfortunately, taking his work on the road is currently next to impossible with Nine Inch Nails prepping their world tour in support of an upcoming album.

Juggling different projects is not a big deal for Rubin, as the San Diego native has also played drums for Paramore and Lostprophets. Check out the video for 'Daydream' and see if this haunting song strikes a minor chord to your soul.
