Slipknot Masks: Throughout the Years (PHOTO GALLERY)

Formed back in 1995 in Des Moines, Iowa, Slipknot is one of modern heavy metal’s biggest stars. With each of their four official studio albums selling over a million copies each, and winning one Grammy from seven nominations, the 8-man wrecking crew have proven that metal bands don’t always have to compromise the more extreme side of their sounds in order to gain mass acceptance.

To celebrate the history of Slipknot, Noisecreep is taking a look back at Slipknot’s iconic masks throughout the years.

In 2012, Slipknot announced the launch of the band’s first ever digital app across Mac iOS and Android platforms which is appropriately entitled “Slipknot: Wear the Mask.” The app has social, gameplay and photography aspects. Download it at this location.
