Skillet have just released the official music video for 'American Noise,' an inspiring song about the importance of finding your voice amidst life's trials and tribulations. The video takes place during the dead of night, as the band members take to a grassy field filled with vintage cars and a wooden piano. Their various instruments are also on display which begs the question -- who the heck left the lights on?

'American Noise' is a pretty literal video, as the clip will cut to a yellow headphone after frontman John Cooper sings "yellow headphones filled with static" and immediately transition to a darkened bedroom after we hear "lonely room you've got nowhere to run." Still, it's hard not to love Skillet's unabashed earnestness as well as Cooper's genuine delivery as he sings "Drink deep in the morning." The video's deliberate transitions from bleak suburban images to an outdoor sunrise shows us that even in the most tragic times, a little light can shine through.

For Skillet fans who yearn for a slightly more subtle take on the song's themes, check out the animated lyric video, which can be found here. The song is taken from the Grammy nominated band's latest release 'Rise,' which is their follow up to their 2009 platinum selling album 'Awake.' 'Rise' had a stellar June release, as it debuted in the No. 4 spot on the Billboard Top 200.

The band are currently gearing up for the Carnival of Madness tour which will also feature In This Moment, Papa Roach, and Shinedown. With anthemic rockers like 'American Noise' in their arsenal, expect Skillet to continue to gain momentum on the nationwide tour, which starts off Aug. 11 in Asbury Park, N.J. (Stone Pony Summer Stage).
