Hey headbangers in the City of Brotherly Love, here is your chance to do some good!

School of Rock Philadelphia will host Metal 4 Hunger, an evening of heavy metal performances by two popular area bands on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 7:00PM. Admission to the show will be at least one can of food per person. That's right. A can of food permits entry into the show. So head over to your local SuperFresh or PathMark, grab a can of peas, green beans or corn and bring it to the show. Why not grab two or three or 10 cans?

All food donations will benefit the Doylestown Food Pantry, which provides a wide range of housing and related social services to homeless and low-income Bucks County families. Bucks County is a suburban county outlying Philly, so do your part for the locals who are less fortunate. It's really that easy.

"In November and December of 2011, we began requesting food donations to benefit the Doylestown Food Pantry, and w''re just short of our one ton goal," said Michael Morpurgo, owner of School of Rock Philadelphia. "We're hoping that we get a huge response from music lovers who want to enjoy the performances of two incredible local metal bands, and at the same time, provide generous assistance to area residents who truly need our help."

He continued, "While admission to this excellent concert is a donation of only one can of food per person, we're hoping that people come in with much more than that. They don't have to donate their body weight equivalent, but as much as they can carry would be hugely helpful to the Food Pantry – like maybe half of their body weight!"

Performing at Metal 4 Hunger will be Tears of Requiem, which is comprised of five teenage School of Rock musicians who play all original songs. Also featured will be noted sludge/stoner metal trio Hellblock 6. The band, which has been on hiatus since 2006 and will be reuniting for this special event.

Metal 4 Hunger will take place at School of Rock Philadelphia, 421 North 7th Street (Electric Factory) in Philadelphia.

In other School of Rock news, it will launch an Overnight Metal Camp from Aug. 19 through Aug. 25. School of Rock's Metal Camp will take place at Camp Lakota in the Catskill Mountains. It's about an hour-and-a-half from NYC. This weeklong experience teaches some serious rock music and provides a cool, unique alternative to the traditional summer camp experience. Attendees will receive concentrated music instruction on guitar, bass, drums, keys and vocals and the key tools to master the art of metal.
