Forget 'Some Kind of Monster,' the warts-and-all documentary that Metallica released where fans -- both die-hard and casual -- got a look at the band at their most difficult, fractured moments and during their famous communication breakdowns while frontman James Hetfield went through his rebab. Hetfield is partaking in a different sort of documentary, called 'Absent.'

The film examines the yearning for an emotional bond that children without fathers experience. In the film, Hetfield discusses coming from a broken home, how his family fell apart and how he suffered through intense feelings of abandonment from this issue. He also reads Metallica lyrics and allows the filmmakers to use six Metallica songs in the film.

No word yet on when the film will be finished or released or who else stars in it.
