Metallica and the World Series-winning San Francisco Giants teamed up for a special 'Metallica Day' promotion at AT&T Park last month and one of the highlights of the evening was a scorching version of the National Anthem performed on guitars by James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett. After very positive response, the group has decided to make their rendition available as a free download for fans via their LiveMetallica.com website.

You must be a member to get the free download, but the membership is free by simply entering a few details about yourself. LiveMetallica.com is also the place to go for fans of the band's live music as they are frequently posting concert material for listeners to enjoy.

One thing that's notable about the band's take on the 'Star-Spangled Banner' is that this was the first time the group had ever performed it live. So aside from the 41,000 in attendance at the sold-out AT&T Park, most have not experienced the thrill of hearing their rousing performance.

To get your free download of Metallica's National Anthem performance, be sure to visit LiveMetallica.com. Watch the band's performance of the 'Star-Spangled Banner' from their May appearance below.
