Police investigating the sudden disappearance of Metallica fan Morgan Harrington held a press conference Oct. 28 and provided a timeline of what they believe happened the night the 20-year-old Virginia Tech student vanished. Harrington has been missing since Metallica's Oct. 17 concert, and was last seen wearing a black mini-skirt and a Pantera shirt. She attended the concert with friends, but, after using the bathroom, somehow ended up outside the venue, which has a no re-entry policy.

According to police, the blond and blue-eyed Harrington was last seen on the Copeley Street Bridge at 9:30 PM in Charlottesville, Va., the night she disappeared. She was first seen outside the John Paul Jones Arena about an hour earlier. The arena is located on the University of Virginia, and police think Harrington made her way through the University Hall parking area, towards the University of Virginia's Lannigan Field, before ending up on the bridge, which leads back towards the main part of the campus grounds.

During the press conference, police did not field questions from reporters. However, they detailed the timeline exhaustively instead. Between 8:20 and 8:48 PM, someone matching Harrington's description was seen outside the arena's parking lot by the ticket office. She called friends inside the arena at that time and tried to figure out a way back in. She told her friends she'd get a ride home from friends around Charlottesville.

From 8:48 to 9 PM, Harrington was still seen around the arena, but police say they have no indication she re-entered the building. About 10 minutes later, someone matching Harrington's description was seen walking through the University Hall parking lot. She was alone, but there were other people walking in the same direction.

Between 9:10 and 9:20 PM, someone who looks like Harrington was seen in the Lannigan Field parking area near the college's track. The lot is used for overflow parking, and the woman is said to have had limited interactions with people who were at the parking area. At 9:20 PM, witnesses thought Harrington left the area.

The person matching Harrington's description was spotted 10 minutes later on the Copeley Road Bridge near Ivy Road. She was last seen near the intersection of Copeley Road and Ivy Road. Police admit they still need more detail -- no matter how small -- from anyone who may have seen Harrington after she left the arena. They're hoping to put together a mosaic of her movements during that 70-minute period, and they hope this will provide more insight into what may have happened to Harrington and extend it from the point where they can last pinpoint her whereabouts.

Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett recently commented on Harrington's disappearance, saying, "[T]here's been a reward put out by the family and we decided to contribute to that reward, 'cause we would like to see -- as parents and just of our own good nature -- we would like to see her found and reunited with her family. It's a very sad thing to hear about. We're just trying to do what we can to help her and help her family out. It's a pretty intense, screwed up thing that's happened, and I really hope that she's found and that she's OK."

There is a $150,000 reward for information leading to the safe return or information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Harrington's disappearance.
