Madina Lake Sign With Razor & Tie, New Album Due This Fall
Razor & Tie have announced the signing of Chicago rockers Madina Lake, who have just completed work on their new studio album, ‘World War III.’
Prior to the release of the new record next fall, Madina Lake will join Linkin Park, Disturbed, Bullet For My Valentine, and The Gaslight Anthem as a main-stage performer at this year’s Download Festival at Donington Park in the UK. Madina Lake will also be part of this summer’s Warped Tour.
For Madina Lake, the past few months have been tumultuous to say the least. Last June, bassist Matthew Leone was hospitalized after intervening in a domestic violence incident in Chicago involving a man beating his wife. In critical condition, Leone’s injuries included a fractured skull, a broken jaw, and a swollen brain. Doctors removed one-third of his skull while waiting for the swelling in his brain to go down. Local musicians and supporters pulled together to raise money for Matthew’s hospital bills with The Smashing Pumpkins, who played a benefit show in Chicago raising over $80,000. Fortunately, Matthew’s recovery in the last year has been nothing short miraculous.
Madina Lake’s new album will be the third and final installment in a storyline the band created about a metaphorical universe. Pouring their life experiences into their songs, Madina Lake set out to release three albums which would congruently tell the story of Madina Lake, a small town of their own creation, which would also serve as the canvas for a much larger message.
“In a way, we made this record subconsciously. So much was going on around us that we didn’t have the energy to over-think it. At the same time we knew how important it would ultimately become in our lives so every single moment counted. It’s by far our heaviest record to date both sonically and emotionally,” explained vocalist Nathan Leone.
