The holiday shopping season officially starts at the end of the month with Black Friday, but there's enough metal releases for you to get a heads start on picking up gifts for the headbanger in your life.

Escape the Fate emerge from the shadows, armed with their self-titled debut for Interscope, which mixes mosh with melody. The 'Big Four' DVD -- Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer -- also hits shelves. The shamans and mystics of black metal known as Cradle of Filth stoke the November (coming fire ) with 'Darkly Darkly Venus Aversa,' their latest slab of blasphemy. Those German legends in Helloween are also back with '7 Sinners,' which is being touted as their fastest released yet, so you'll have to check it out and judge for yourself.

Underoath will slay the heathens with 'Disambiguation,' their new platter, while shredder Yngwie Malmsteen will let the arpeggios reign down with 'Relentless,' which should cause guitar geeks to seek out tabulatures.
