Evile Bassist Died From Pulmonary Embolism

EvileLittle more than three weeks after he passed suddenly while on tour in Europe with Amon Amarth, medical examiners have determined a cause of death for Evile bassist Mike Alexander. He died on Oct. 5 from a pulmonary embolism, a blockage of the main artery of the lung.

Alexander slapped his bass for the English thrash metal outfit, and after his passing, Evile said in a statement that it was hard to put how they feel following Alexander’s passing into words. “We can’t believe or accept what’s happened,” the band said. “One minute, we’re talking to our buddy, Mike … the next minute, we can never speak to him again.”

Alexander was born in West Ham, London, and died at the age of 32. He was a founding member of Evile, which formed in 2004, and the band’s debut album, ‘Enter the Grave,’ was released through Earache in 2007. Evile’s second album, ‘Infected Nations,’ was released on Sept. 21.

“We’re lost for words,” they added. “We all miss him so much already. He was such a headstrong, genuinely nice guy who loved music and his family. We’ve got so many brilliant memories with him. Our hearts go out to his daughter, family and friends at this tragic, difficult time. Mike is much loved and is sorely missed. Rest in peace, brother.”

Alexander appeared on Noisecreep’s second ever ”Creep Show’ podcast.

Evile has established a tribute site for Alexander, which they say will be “a definite place which people could visit to commemorate, remember and celebrate Mike. We’ll be posting news regarding any benefit shows for Mike on the site. Please leave your messages for Mike’s family and friends in the condolences section, and send any Mike pictures you have to the address on the site.”
