'On the Backs of Angels,' a brand new song from progressive rock behemoths Dream Theater, hit the internet.

The track is the first time anyone has heard any new music from the group since founding member Mike Portnoy left their ranks. 'On the Backs of Angels' features Mike Mangini, the recently recruited drummer replaced Portnoy after a lengthy audition process that was filmed for a documentary that ran on their label Roadrunner Records' YouTube channel.

The song will be featured on 'A Dramatic Turn of Events,' Dream Theater's upcoming 11th studio album. Mixed by veteran engineer Andy Wallace [Slayer, Nirvana], the nine song collection promises to deliver the tech-heavy arrangements we've all come to love from the New York-based act. "What's really special about him is, he's not just a technician," keyboardist Jordan Rudess said about working with new drummer Mangini. "Yes, he plays his parts perfectly, but he comes at everything as a total musician. Everything he does has real soul and a depth of feeling."
