Danzig Reveal Additional 25th Anniversary Tour Dates
With the current leg of Danzig 's 25th anniversary tour with Scar the Martyr and Huntress winding down at the end of the month, the band has announced more shows. Danzig will return to the road with Butcher Babies, Texas Hippie Coalition and A Pale Horse Named Death beginning Oct. 8.
Former Misfits guitarist Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein is playing guitar with Danzig on the tour, with he, Glenn Danzig and the rest of the band playing some Misfits classics during every set. Doyle recently released the solo album 'Abominator.'
A Danzig covers album is in the works, and in a recent interview, Glenn Danzig talked about it: "My idea of covers is that you should never cover a song and do it exactly like the artist because everyone’s always going to compare it to the way the original artists did it and they’re just going to go 'Oh I like the original better.' I wanted to make it my own and take it in a different direction, maybe a different direction they didn’t really think of at the time or would never think of because I have a much different background than they do."
Danzig continued, "There’s a ton of other cool covers on there, I did a lot of covers people wouldn’t think I would do like ‘Biker’ soundtrack theme song that I made crazy, there’s a Lee Hazlewood/Nancy Sinatra cover on there and I had Cherie Currie come down and sing the Nancy Sinatra part."
Fans attending the Los Angeles show on Aug. 30 may get to see the two perform the song. It is rumored that Currie will join Danzig on stage that night.
