Relapse Records has just announced the signing of Finnish death-doom bringers Hooded Menace.

Influenced by the likes of Candlemass, Paradise Lost and Black Sabbath, the group has already released two full-length albums as well as split releases with Coffins, Asphyx, Ilsa, and more. Hooded Menace made their US live debut this spring performing as part of the Maryland Deathfest, Chaos in Tejas, and Doom in June festivals.

"We're very excited about signing with Relapse Records! This seems like a logical next step for the band," said guitarist Lasse Pyykko. "Of course we are still going to release 7 inches and such with smaller labels too because we love doing that. As for the full-length album, now we're going have all the support, promotion, and distribution we could possibly hope [for] at this stage. It's pretty amazing to be part of the label with such a long and remarkable history. Relapse has released many albums that we are big fans of. We are stoked about leaving our heavily and deeply stamped mark [on] that long, significant list of great music."

So far Hooded Menace have confirmed a handful of Finnish tour dates, including performances at the Ilosaarirock Festival [with Buzzcocks, Melt Banana and Madness] and Tuska Festival (with Killing Joke, At the Gates, Amorphos) in July. The band will also open for doom legends Saint Vitus in Helsinki on August 27th. More shows will be announced soon.
