It's been an eleven-year wait that made no sense. Why would one of the most important hardcore records, the record that Alternative Press labeled as "one of the most influential albums in 1998" and helped gestate a birth of metal mixing into hardcore, not be on vinyl? Well no matter the reason the wait is finally over as pre-orders have begun for a re-release on vinyl of Zao's 'Where Blood and Fire Bring Rest' through Broken Circles.

In a recent conversation Zao guitarist Scott Mellinger told Noisecreep, "Vinyl is such a perfect representation of what the music is. You don't compress it so you have all the lows and all the highs that are intended on the record." He smiled and gushed in excitement over 'Where Blood and Fire Bring Rest', an album he didn't even play on, coming to vinyl finally. He hopes this will be the beginning of Zao on vinyl.

Zao does have a new album 'Awake?' being released next week via Ferret Records in digital and in a limited CD pressing form. For this new album Scott says, "We are actually going to try and put some kind of vinyl out on this one. We've talked about it already. We'd love to do it." This re-release of 'Where Blood and Fire Bring Rest' is key to other Zao albums getting the vinyl treatment. Scott said the band is waiting to see how this re-release sells to license any more of Zao's back catalog.

'Where Blood and Fire Bring Rest' will be available in black, clear dark red, solid yellow, and brown marble colors and at some point the test pressings are planned to be sold with special screen printed artwork.
