Zakk Wylde Talks About the Possibility of Doing Another Record With Ozzy Osbourne
Zakk Wylde has indicated he’d be more than willing to link back up with Ozzy Osbourne in the studio. “My relationship with Ozzy and Mrs. O (Sharon Osbourne) is if they call me up and say, ‘Bring eggs and milk over and clean the dog run,’ I do it,” the guitarist tells the Chicago Tribune.
“If Oz wants to do another record then we knock it out,” Wylde says. “We haven’t spoken yet about a record. Basically, right now it’s about the shows.”
It was revealed back in April that Wylde is back with the Ozz man for a series of festival dates this summer beginning with the Rock USA Festival July 14 in Oshkosh, Wis. He is stepping in for Firewind guitarist Gus G., who reportedly was unable to do the shows. It’s Zakk’s first time playing shows with Osbourne since 2009.
“Oz called up. He said at this juncture Gus couldn’t do it. And he said, ‘Who else could get the dishes as clean and the linens as fluffy as they were back in the day?’ So that’s the reason why,” Wylde told 98.9 The Rock earlier this month. “It really has nothing to do with the guitar playing. It’s just because Gus couldn’t do it. So they’re, like, ‘Well, we’ll let him play guitar while he’s here anyway doing dishes and linens.’”
If Wylde does return to the studio with Osbourne, it would be the first time since 2007’s Black Rain. He first joined Ozzy’s band in 1987, replacing Jake E. Lee, and made his debut on No Rest for the Wicked, putting his stamp on such instant classics as “Miracle Man” and “Crazy Babies.”
Osbourne is hoping to release a new studio album sometime next year. Wylde’s shows with the legendary frontman run through October. The full schedule can be found here.
