Wrath and Rapture

Good luck trying to pigeonhole Wrath and Rapture's sound. Even the band members can't accurately describe it in under five words! "When we were trying to figure out ways to describe our sound we came up with 'epic, progressive, American black metal,'" laughs Wrath and Rapture guitarist Kenan Livermont to Noisecreep. "I think the longest we came up with was 'blackened, epic, progressive death metalcore.' Then we decided we would just start promoting it as 'time travel metal.'"

While 'time travel metal' might not be the most common way to describe a band's sound, it works for Wrath and Rapture. The band members are all young and draw from all sorts of influences; everything from the heaviest black metal to the snappiest jazz tunes. Together, Livermont is sure that Wrath and Rapture have a fresh sound and will be able to influence the next generation of metalheads.

"I want to bring musicianship back to the forefront. It seems like the trend over the past few years with the whole scene has become ..." Livermont trails off as he tries to explain what he see as the current state of metal. "Really bands just kind of crap out the same stuff that everyone else is doing, and the focus is on breakdowns and auto tunes and one-note keyboard. We spend a lot of time crafting our music, and we put a lot of thought and effort into really writing songs, and I hope that people realize how much work we're putting into each note of every song."

Wrath and Rapture look to tour sometime during 2010.
