Whitesnake drummer Brian Tichy sure ended 2012 with a bang ... literally.

Tichy was mountain bike riding when he fell and broke his collarbone, forcing him to miss his New Year's Eve Las Vegas concert at The Moby Dicks All-Star Tribute to Led Zeppelin show. Luckily, Quiet Riot's Frankie Banali filled in for him at the show.

Tichy -- who has also manned the kit for everyone from Foreigner and Billy Idol to Ozzy Osbourne -- tweeted to fans on Dec. 31, "typin with yor arm in a sling after u get back from er after wipin on your mtn. bike n breakin yor collarbone jus sux ... so much for playing drums new year's in vegas with The Moby Dicks. Thanks to our bud Frankie Banali for helpin us out!"

Tichy seemed to be in positive spirits, adding later that day, "my year will b all uphill from here.I'll be c-in my healer wizard Dr. morovati tomoro and get this bs out the way asap ... I will be back on gtr real soon and drums right after, full on at the bonzo bash!"

He was referring to the Bonzo Bash NAMM Jamm in Anaheim, Calif. on Jan. 24 -- and the rocker said he's ready to move forward.

"I am now going to be more METAL than ever before," he shared Jan. 1. "I am going to have a metal plate and screws on my right collarbone at 11am today!
