Whitechapel Drummer Ben Harclerode Confirms His Exit From the Band

Kathy Flynn,

Whitechapel have quietly undergone a lineup change that was recently revealed by drummer Ben Harclerode on social media.

In the midst of responding to his followers on Twitter, Harclerode revealed that he exited the band back in May. When one of his Twitter followers questioned if his comment was true, the drummer responded, “Very true. I’m not emotionally invested any longer so its not fair to myself, the band or the fans for me to continue.”

During the exchange, he went on to reveal that Chason Westmoreland, who had played with The Faceless, will be filling in during his absence while the band seeks a permanent replacement. “They have my boy Chason Westmoreland filling in, so there will be no drummer downgrade,” said Harclerode, offering his approval of the choice.

Another Twitter follower chimed in as well, allowing Harclerode to open up even further on his decision to leave. “It was the hardest move I’ve ever made,” said the drummer, who added, “I was truly unhappy with wc and needed to happen.” See that exchange below.

Harclerode was the band’s third drummer. He took over behind the kit in 2011, first appearing on the group’s 2012 self-titled album. Whitechapel are currently on tour in Europe, with dates booked through most of the month. See where they’re playing here.
