White Noise: News on Nile, Kiss, the Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, D.R.I., Winds of Plague and More

Talk about your slow news mornings…today takes the cake. After what’s been a rather hectic week, which started out with Five Finger Death Punch misplaced their guitarist and was seemingly capped last night with Chiodos booting their frontman, things are slowing down a bit this morning. That doesn’t mean nothing news worthy’s happened in the last 24 hours. Its just the caliber…the quality of the news we have a problem with. Do not fret. If you’re down with tour dates, album and song streams, and your favorite bands making the talk show circuit, then we’ve got you covered. If you want controversy and mystery, go to TMZ. It’s White Noise…keeping you updated on all the latest metal news, as it’s happening.

+ Metal historians Nile are giving us a taste of their new album, ‘Those Whom the Gods Detest,’ over on their MySpace page. The band is now streaming the track ‘Permitting the Noble Dead to Descend to the Underworld,’ and its killer. The entire record is a monster, so you should definitely check this song out. In related news, Nile is in the market for a bassist. All you need to do is email a video of yourself playing the song ‘Papyrus Containing the Spell to Preserve its Possessor From Attacks From He Who Is In the Water’ to the band, and wait to hear back. Good luck. Frankly, if we had to play bass in a technical death metal band, it’d be Nile.

+ Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees Kiss have a new album, called ‘Sonic Boom,’ about to drop in stores Oct. 7. Hence, they’ll be making a bunch of notable public appearances to promote the effort. The band will play an outdoor mini concert on ABC-TV’s ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ on Oct. 7, and on Oct. 6, Kiss will be special guests of Howard Stern. During the episode, mega fan Sal ‘The Stockbroker’ Governale will introduce his kids to Kiss, after beating two strippers this week in a battle of on-air wits.

+ Hatebreed‘s Jamey Jasta will be back in familiar territory this weekend, to host an entire episode of ‘Headbangers Ball’ with the rest of the Connecticut hardcore outfit. The show will air Sept. 27 ay 2 AM, because … well, MTV loves metal.

+ D.R.I. have lined up some additional live dates for 2010. On Feb. 5, the band will perform in St Paul, Minn., and dates are scheduled through Feb. 28 in Providence, R.I.

+ The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza has dubbed its forthcoming album ‘Danza III: The Series of Unfortunate Events.’ The guys plan on recording the effort this November, with plans to release the effort next year.

+ Winds Of Plague, Stick to Your Guns, Sleeping Giant, Oceano, and Circle of Contempt will gang up this November for a winter tour. The first date’s set for San Diego, and shows are booked straight through Dec. 18 in Pomona, Calif.

+ Kayo Dot‘s ‘Coyote’ LP has been recorded, and should be in stores this February. In the meantime, you can catch the band’s live show Oct. 9 in New York.

+ Barren Earth, a group featuring current and former members of Swallow the Sun, Amorphis, Kreator and Moonsorrow, will release their debut EP, ‘Our Twilight,’ on Nov. 17. The four track effort will include the songs ‘Jewel,’ ‘The Flame of Serenity’ and ‘Floodred.’
