Watch Death Angel Pay Tribute to Malcolm Young with Cover of ‘Dog Eat Dog’

One of the multitudes of musical tributes in the wake of Malcolm Young‘s passing over the weekend (Nov. 18) came from Death Angel the night the sad news broke. The Bay Area thrash metal outfit dedicated a cover of AC/DC‘s “Dog Eat Dog” to the co-founding guitarist for the Australian rockers while performing in Budapest, Hungary.

“We’re up here doing what we love to do, and that’s because we’re not just musicians, we’re music fans, and it pains us deeply when one of our main inspirations passes away, and unfortunately that happened today,” says singer Mark Osegueda in a fan-filmed clip from the gig which can be seen above. “This show is dedicated to Malcolm Young from AC/DC. If you know this song, please join along; we haven’t rehearsed it, we’re just gonna f–kin’ do it out of our love for f–kin’ music. This is for you Malcolm.”

The band then ripped through an inspiring version of the track, which was the first single from the band’s 1977 album Let There Be Rock. It was the fourth album from AC/DC and featured frontman Bon Scott.

Young was 64 years old when he passed, and had been suffering from dementia for a couple of years, and was forced to leave the band due to his health in 2014. Along with his younger brother Angus, he co-founded AC/DC in 1973.

Death Angel are currently touring Europe with Testament and Annihilator. The jaunt runs through early December.
