Voodoo Terror Tribe, ‘Twenty12′ Videos: Jersey Metal Crew Ponders Armageddon

VTT

Voodoo Terror Tribe are what you might call Armageddon enthusiasts. The New Jersey metal crew has set out to make a series of videos symbolizing the “seven seals” described in biblical end-of-days prophecies. They’ve just finished the first two, both of which are for ‘Twenty12,’ a track from their recent ‘Stands to Reason’ EP.

The first clip, dubbed the “official censored version,” was directed by Sondra Faye, a multimedia artist who’s worked with acclaimed horror director George A. Romero.

“I’ve approached the filming of VTT’s ‘Twenty12′ as a work of ‘Doomsday Creativity’ inspired by the writings of Nostradamus and the Mayan Civilization and the Bible, amongst other end of the world theories I’ve read and been exposed to,” she said. “Having really listened closely to [singer] Gil PZ’s lyrics, they can be esoterically misinterpreted in multiple ways. My censored film version of ‘Twenty12′ — Seal One — is like a PG movie.”

Faye filmed on location at the Haunted Tent for the Hungry in Morris County, N.J., and as such, the video has a playful, Halloween-like feel — at least relative to Gil PZ’s darker edit. Known as “the official uncensored version,” the frontman’s cut is a disturbing montage of news footage — popes preaching, dictators ranting, bombs falling, riot cops beating protestors, etc. — and old horror-flick clips.

“Chock full of social and religious satire on current events, it’s sure to provoke a response from mildewed minds and metal fans alike,” PZ said.
