Vinnie Paul: ‘To Me There’s No Bad Blood at All’ With Former Pantera Members

Sometimes it is just time to move on. That’s what seems to be behind the continual talk from former Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul that he has no interest in reuniting the band. While there definitely has been a divide between Paul and his former bandmates, especially Philip Anselmo, the drummer insists in a new interview that there’s no “bad blood” there.

In a new interview with Metal Blast, Paul was once again asked if he ever envisioned a time when he would play live with Anselmo and Rex Brown again. The drummer responded, “I’m happy with what I’m doing here. Like I said, Pantera had 14 amazing years and without my brother here to be part of it, it would be a travesty, man. I’m just not interested at all.”

When asked about the supposed bad blood that came after Dimebag Darrell‘s death, Paul stated, “To me, there’s no bad blood at all. It’s like when you get a divorce from somebody. There’s a reason why you got a divorce. You don’t have to stay in touch with that person. You don’t have to f—ing see that person or do anything with them. I’m just not interested.”

Paul has been adamant that no matter what happens there won’t be a reunion, per se, as there can’t be with Dimebag Darrell’s death. As for talk that Zakk Wylde could fill in, Paul recently stated that he’s baffled by those who continually suggest that potential lineup. He added, “If Eddie Van Halen was to get shot in the head four times next week, would everybody be going, ‘Hey man, Zakk, go play for Van Halen. Just call it Van Halen.’ You see what I’m saying? I mean, it’s really selfish for people to think that and it’s stupid. It’s not right at all.”
