Velvet Revolver Possibly Working With New Singer

Velvet Revolver have continued their search for a singer to replace the departed Scott Weiland, albeit in passive fashion. It’s not been as easy as the band had hoped, having shelved an entire album’s worth of material that was recorded with Slipknot/Stone Sour vocalist Corey Taylor at the helm. Bassist Duff McKagan alluded to OC Weekly that he and the members of the band might have found a possible candidate by accident.

The group played the Road Recovery benefit in New York City a few weeks back and performed with a singer they “might write some songs with,” said Duff. That singer is Ours vocalist Jimmy Gnecco. The band played three songs with the frontman, including the Velvet Revolver hit, ‘Slither.’

Duff addressed the delay in filling Weiland’s boots, saying, “None of us have really tried [to find anyone] in the last few years. We’ve all been busy with other things. I think once that whole thing went down with Scott, we thought we’d find a guy right away. Once a few months went by, it was like, ‘Oh f—.'”

Gnecco certainly has a vocal style than is markedly different than Weiland’s gravelly emissions. The former’s is higher pitched and feminine. It could be interesting if this leads to something.
