Fresh off their first headlining tour in January and February, Chicago's Veil of Maya immediately got back on the road to support the band's forthcoming third record, '[id],' without much hesitation. Even with a successful headliner packing clubs, Veil of Maya aren't ones to rest on their laurels, because next up was a string of dates with Unearth before both bands met up with the rest of the roster for the Atticus Metal Tour II in California. The trek, currently underway, also features Stick to Your Guns, the Ghost Inside and Carnifex. Not exactly your regular office regiment for four dudes from the Windy City in the first four months of a new year.

"We just take it show to show," vocalist Brandon Butler told Noisecreep about the rigors of a busy touring schedule for a record that isn't out until April. "We've definitely learned a lot being out on the road pretty consistently for almost three years now, but we love doing it. Days off we all kind of hate -- it's nice to relax -- but at the same time, when we're on tour we like to be playing every day. You feel useless just sitting around waiting for that next show."

With such a busy itinerary -- bouncing from headlining to direct support, to a huge package tour (something Veil of Maya are used to, especially after last year's eight-plus band Thrash and Burn package) -- how does a band go about tailoring its set, performance and mindset to a such a rotating set of venues, starting times, set lengths and crowd sizes?

"The [headlining] shows are usually at smaller venues, and it's more personal when we do a headliner. But it's great to get to meet so many people," Butler continued to tell Noisecreep. "The big tour packages, like the Atticus Metal Tour, are kinda surreal to play. it's just crazy to see so many kids come out. It's an awesome feeling to play for a big crowd every night ... it's something we have all dreamed about for a long time, and we couldn't ask for anything else. We love going out on stage and playing shows regardless big or small every night!"

Having already cut their collective teeth on the stage over the years with the likes of Vader, Suffocation, Between the Buried and Me, Darkest Hour and a myriad of others, Veil of Maya are not ready to rest this soon in 2010, Butler reassured Noisecreep. The Chicago natives will instead be hitting Europe with Carnifex and Suffokate in May and June, then returning stateside for another run of dates this summer to continue promoting '[id]', both at home and abroad.

Atticus Metal Tour II wraps April 4 at New England Metal And Hardcore Festival, and Veil of Maya's third full-length is out April 6 through Sumerian Records. Recorded with Michael Keene of the Faceless, '[id]' is the follow-up to the band's 2008 Sumerian debut, 'The Common Man's Collapse,' which Keene also produced.
